Why the industry is happy about New Hybrid Cars…
July 22, 2010 1 CommentHi,
an industry insider told me that 30-50% of added value to any car built by the carmakers is about the drivetrain…
you should know that an electric drive is really no rocket science… the hardest part about that is in the batteries, which is no competence the carmakers have…they do buy the batteries…
but in a gas or diesel drivetrain, which is highly complicated to built, the carmakers do have a lot of competence and therefore a reason to charge high amounts of money for their knowledge…
so imagine tomorrow all the cars sold were electric…
30-50% of the companies surpluses would just vanish…
I wonder if that is why we have to take the hybrid step in between… a hybrid is highly complicated again…
so lots of reasons to have their knowledge paid by the consumer…
