What is the New Nuclear Sign
August 14, 2010 No CommentsNew Nuclear Sign by IAEA
We all know the old black/yellow Nuclear Sign. For me it looks like a radiating atom, but the original intention is unclear. What is known is that is was created in Berkeley, California in the 1940s.
It could also represent a propeller, since a aircraft base was next to the lab.
Whatever the original intention, it represents danger from radiation.
But since the IAEA has realized that inspite of this sign many people get hurt or day worldwide because they do not stay away, it took action in 2001 and started to develop a new sign, the red one. This one is intended to be supplementary.
Well, I do not see its prohibitive use, but the IAEA has asked experts and is sure that this sign will keep people from danger…
well, I dare to ask the question if people in -say- 3000 years, when the radiation is still as high as today, will still recognize its meaning.
I say NO… follow the discussion here: Home of Solar Energy New Nuclear Sign
