Are only Renewable Energy zealots against Nuclear?
August 19, 2010 No CommentsHi, Peter Glover criticizes the British Government for making an open “Anti Nuclear” [he calls him a "zealot"] a Secretary of Energy.
I am for the truth. And Nuclear “Safety” for me is full of problems.
That does not mean I am a “green” zealot, to the contrary. I believe in facts. So this means that I am a thinking citizen and know that we will run out of nuclear fuels soon. And I know that we have no idea how to handle the wastes (and dumping them into the oceans is NO good idea – but that’s our children’s problem, isn’t it?).
And yes, it is true that some other European Countries like Germany are cutting back their subsidiaries for Renewable Energies (but far from drastic)…but he omits that these incentives have been in place for years and have pushed Germany into a position of having about the most residential solar power in the world. So what is wrong if Britain wants to do the same?
I readily admit that right NOW you cannot just switch off all Nuclear plants. Because the renewable and alternative energies are just not developed. And is very important to protect our economies and let them prosper (something the “greens” would not always agree on).
But Portugal changed within a decade to about 45% on Renewable Energies. And the Argument that Renewable Energies are not reliable was solved/debunked very cleverly by the Portuguese.
I can not understand what can make people keep insisting that Nuclear is a potential future.
it is the past, and in 2-3 decades we will have to switch off the lights in the last Nuclear Plant anyways, because nuclear fuels also are finite.
So here is my counterplea to the Pro-Nuclear Peter:
“Well, I am no “Green” at all… but I am strongly convinced “safe Nuclear” is a (lucrative) lie…and the costs we are presented almost never include the protection of Nuclear Wastes in the next -say- one million years. Do we think the Nuclear Sign will keep the next Culture in 2000 years from entering our Waste Deposits? How Naive.
Oh, and I used to be very Pro-Nuclear.
No, Only someone very egoistic can really be in favour of Nuclear Energy.
Well, and what about the facts…there will be Wind and Solar etc. Power when our Nuclear Fuels are long gone (2,3 decades?)
No, I really believe the Climate Change Agenda is wrong, but to cry “continue Nuclear” is very …well, shortsighted.
The British Author Chris Goodall proved in his remarkable book “Ten Technologies To Fix Energy and Climate” that even the UK can live very well on Renewable Energies.
The question is if YOU want them? And if not, why not?
So, I readily agree the Climate Change Zealots have a big (money and career) agenda, and – though I have nothing against clean air – this has to be debunked.
but if you really want to make Nuclear the No. One energy and our future, you cannot have children and have your own agenda…and you lost me big time
I wonder if this will be published and will therefore publish my counterplea at my Solar Energy Blog linking here … hope you are ok with that
Sincerly
Daniel”
Am I wrong?? Am I right?
